Park Jongwoo has switched over to a documentarist from a photo-journalist and continued to record the disappearing cultures and lives of minorities all over the world through photos and videos.

He was the first civilian photographer to enter the DMZ after the 1953 Armistice of Korean War to record its 60th anniversary, and has continued to work on the landscapes and phenomena stemming from the national division, with works such as NLL, Imjin River, Guard Posts and DMZ Excavation of War Remains.
Recently, he is working on documenting war facilities in various countries that were built to serve state ideologies but eventually abandoned.

Park has held solo exhibitions including Himalaya Monographs (Goeun Museum of Photography, 2009), The Tea-Horse Road (Tokyo Canon Salon, 2011), Asian Portraiture (Asian Cultural Centre, 2016), Imjin River (Space22 Gallery, 2016), On the Border (Youngwol Museum of Photography, 2019) and DMZ (Goeun Museum of Photography, 2020)

He has published several photo books such as Himalayan Odyssey (2009, Edition Zero Publishing), Imjin River (2017, Noonbit Publishing) and DMZ (2017, Steidl).
